INTRODUCTION : 
Neela Devi is one of the consorts of Lord Vishnu among Sri Devi and Bhu Devi. But she is also given equal status similar to Lord Vishnu’s two other consorts. Her Mantra is very famous, and by reciting the mantra, we would be relieved from all sorts of difficulties and diseases which we are facing in our daily life.
“AUM MAHA – DHEVYAI CHA VIDMAHE
VISHNU-PATHNYAI CHA DHIMAHEE
THANNO NEELA PRACHODAYATH”
In the Vaikunta, Sri Devi is seated to the left of the Lord and Bhu Devi and Nila Devi to his right side. All the three consorts of Lord Vishnu are the forms of Mata Lakshmi. There are popular songs which praises the glory of Mata Nila in Nila Suktam.
Nappinnai was the incarnation of Neela Devi, and Lord Krishna married her. Nappinnai’s name was mentioned in Divya Prabandham and she was praised by various Alvars.
