INTRODUCTION :
Sri Ramachandra Teertha (16th century AD) was a madhwa saint and a famous scholar who lived in Punugonda, Andhra Pradesh and attained Samadhi in Penugonda. He was admired for his good knowledge and was praised by the king of Penugonda and also he helped him in discharging his duties. His guru was Sri Gopalaswamy and his disciple was Sri Raghunatha Teertha.
He went on holy pilgrimages throughout Andhra Pradesh, and visited ancient temples and got great spiritual powers through that. He also helped the devotees by removing their sufferings and used to give the sacred akshada after performing puja to Lord Srirama, and also used to pray to Rama for the well-being of the devotees. He stayed in Penugonda and performed his spiritual duties in a wonderful manner. In Penugonda, lot of hanuman temples are there, which were built by the great Madhwa saint Sri Vyasaraja.
Sri Ramachandra Teertha entered Mahasamadhi on Phalguna bagula sapthami. His Brindavana is situated nearby Bangalore Hyderabad national highway, nearby the Penugonda town. In his Brindavan, Anjaneyar idol and Narasimha idol were installed. Nearby his Brindavan Sri Raghavendra Swamy’s brindavan is also situated.
