IRAYIMMAN THAMPI

INTRODUCTION :

Iravivarman Thampi, also known as Irayimman Thampi (1782–1856), was a Carnatic musician, and a famous poet, and he penned lot of divine poems. He served as a singer and poet in the court of the famous king Swathi Thirunal, and he was an expert in singing divine songs on Lord Krishna. His famous works include Omanathinkal Kidavo.
Irayimman Thampi was born in the year 1782 in Travancore in a pious Kerala Varma family.  Thampi had his basic education from his father, and he studied Sanskrit under the great scholar Sri Shankaran Elayathu. He wrote poems at his young age, and submitted it to the king of Travancore, and due to that, he got a good position in the Travancore court, and he was highly praised by the king, queen and great scholars.
Irayimman Thampi was married to a pious and chaste girl, and they had seven children, and among them Lakshmi Kutty Pillai Thankachi, was a famous poet.  
Thampi died in the year 1856.

In his work Rasakrida, he explained the love and affection between Lord Krishna and the Gopikas, and mentioned the affection shown by the god to his devotees in the form of dancing, embracing and smiling on each other. The gopikas enjoyed the divine bliss, when they were touched and embraced by Lord Krishna, and they realized Lord Krishna, as the supreme manifestation of Lord Vishnu, who had come to this earth, in order to give great spiritual pleasure to his devotees.
Through his famous work, Rasakrida, he cleared the doubts of the non-believers of Lord Krishna, and made them to realize the true nature of Lord Krishna.
