INTRODUCTION :

Aadi month is meant for worshiping Amman, and devotees used to prepare Prasad items like koozh, pongal and curd rice and after showing it to the goddess, it would be distributed to the devotees, and most of the family functions like marriages and grihapravesam are not held. Particularly new business ventures would not be started during the month of Aadi. Donating money or food to the charitable houses is done especially during Aadi month.

But festivals such as Aadi Peruku and Aadi Puram would be grandly celebrated during this month. During Aadi Amavasai, rituals for ancestors would be done in the temples and in the houses by those Hindus, who had lost either their father or mother or both. Aadi month is meant for planting of seeds, worshiping of goddess and conducting ceremony to the ancestors. If we see from the scientific point of view, strictly speaking, Aadi month is neither a summer nor a winter month, heavy breeze would be there during this month, but the climatic condition is not good for performing functions like marriages and others.  According to Hindu tradition, during the Aadi month, it is believed that the demi gods in the heaven would be taking rest, and due to that, it would be difficult to receive their blessings, and hence major functions would not be held during Aadi month.

During this month, we can visit various Amman temples such as Mangadu Kamakshi Amman, Thiruverkadu Karumari Amman, Melmalayanur Angala Parameswari Amman and Melmaruvathur temple. By visiting these holy temples during the Aadi month, our mind and body would become more active, and we would get all kinds of prosperities in our life.
