INTRODUCTION :
In general, if we hate anybody or if we try to express our anger with others, we would call them as ‘NAYE’, which means calling them as the animal, ‘dog’. In some small shops and in foundries, the owner would mostly call their attendants as ‘NAYE’. Sometimes they may use this word as an act of showing their friendliness or affection on them. But whatever may be, using such a word is not considered as good, since dogs are considered as faithful and worshipful animals and they act as the divine vehicle of Lord Kalabhairava, an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
If we read the letters of the word, Dog, from backwards onwards, it would be God. Yes! Dogs are very brilliant and precious animals, which cannot be ignored by us in this today’s selfish world. Some parents might tell to their mischievous children that instead of keeping them as their child they can take care of a dog, since they believe that a dog would show more love and affection on them than that of their own children.
Dogs are also found in the holy Himalayas, and the dogs living in Himalayas, looks more healthy since they are living in the abode of their beloved Lord Shiva, who is none other than the mighty Kala Bhairava. Small children would like dogs very much and most of them would be adopting a dog as a pet animal for them.
In the Pozhichalur Saneeswarar Temple, we can see lot of dogs barking in front of the shrine of Lord Kalabhairava, especially while performing puja to him. Dogs can also be fed with nutritious vegetarian food, and they have to be properly taken care of, similar to our child.
According to holy texts of Hinduism, those who take care of the animals and birds, by feeding them properly, would be blessed by the divine devas in the heaven, and after their death, they would get a suitable place in the heaven.
Saniyan means Lord Shani, and the term ‘Saniyane’ is used to express our anger with a person who would give troubles to us regularly. Even parents used to scold their children by using the words, ‘Saniyane’, if they did any mischievous acts. Since Lord Shani’s main work is to give goodness or badness to the people based on their karma, in general most of the people dislikes him. Actually Lord Shani is the god of justice, and he is doing his duty perfectly.
He properly moulds us to become a perfect person by giving some troubles in our life, and makes us to realize the importance of worshipping the god, and also helps us to do good deeds in our life. In general, Lord Shani appears like a bitter medicine for us, but he is the one, who would remove our diseases and sins, and helps us to become pure and pious in our life.
Shani Dev is the god of Saturday and he is the planet Saturn, and one among the Navagrahas. His parents are Lord Surya Bhagavan and Mata Chaya Devi, and his siblings are Lord Yama, Mata Yamuna, Mata Bhadra, Mata Tapti and Ashwin Kumaras. His consorts are Manda and Neelima, and his children are Gulika and Maandi.
Lord Shani is mentioned in the holy Puranas, and he delivers good/bad results to us based on our past karmic deeds. He is an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu, and he used to perform meditation on Lord Vishnu, and also chants the 1,000 glorious names of Lord Vishnu regularly.
Shani Bhagavan’s temples are situated throughout India. Among his several temples, temples situated at Shani Shingnapur, kuchanur Shani Bhagavan Temple and Thirunallaru Shaneeswarar Temples are considered as very sacred temples. Donating sesame oil and doing sesame oil bath to Lord Shaneeswara idol at his temples is considered as a sacred deed, and by doing that, we would be relieved from our various health issues, and our mind would function brightly.
Let us worship Mata Saraswati in order to deliver noble speech in front of others.
