INTRODUCTION : 
Goddess Lakshmi also called as Mahalakshmi, is the consort of Lord Vishnu, and the fulfiller of wishes of her devotees, and she is highly praised in the Rigveda. She is the cosmic energy of Vishnu, and is considered as one of the chief deities of Hinduism. She is seen in the pictures along with Goddess Saraswati and Parvati. In pictures, she can be seen seated in a lotus flower, and also holds lotus in her hands, and contains shining face with full of beauty, and her vehicle is an owl. By worshiping her, she shows motherly affection on us, and she would give all kinds of prosperities, and would give her immense blessings to us.
Fridays are considered as auspicious for Mata Lakshmi Devi, and performing pujas on Fridays, would satisfy her, and would shower her grace on us. As per ancient texts, before getting from the bed during mornings, we must first see the picture of Ma Lakshmi and must worship her, in order to get good fortunes in our life. According to Puranas, Mata Lakshmi was emerged from the divine ocean when it was churned by the demi gods and the demons. Lakshmi Devi is also known as Ashta Lakshmi, and she is worshiped in the form of eight forms, they are:
- Adi Lakshmi
- Dhana Lakshmi
- Dhanya Lakshmi
- Gaja Lakshmi
- Santana Lakshmi
- Veera Lakshmi
- Jaya Lakshmi
- Vidya Lakshmi
As per Vishnu Purana, when Vishnu took the avatars of Rama and Krishna, Mata Lakshmi also took the avatars of Mata Sita, Mata Rukmini, and Mata Satyabama. Lakshmi is also called as Bhudevi, Sridevi and Nila Devi. Mata Lakshmi is also mentioned in Buddhist and Jainism texts. Mata Lakshmi can be seen with her consort Lord Vishnu, and they are collectively called as “LAKSHMINARAYANA”. Lord Garuda, the divine vehicle of Lord Vishnu, used to worship Lakshmi and Vishnu sincerely, and he is treated as their affectionate son. Lot of temples are dedicated to Ma Lakshmi, and among the temples, Mahalakshmi Temple situated at Kolhapur at Maharashtra is very famous, and daily thousands of people are visiting this holy shrine, in order to the blessings of Ma Lakshmi. Kanaka Mahalakshmi Temple situated in Visakhapatnam at Andhra Pradesh is also a famous temple of Ma Lakshmi.
Ma Lakshmi is mainly worshipped during Annual Lakshmi Puja Festival day, Diwali festival day, Varalakshmi Vratham day and also during Navaratri festival days. Kanakadara Stotram must be regularly recited by the devotees in order to get good name, fame, health and wealth.
