Introduction
Once Lord Daksha Bhagavan, the mind born son of Lord Brahma Deva, has teased Lord Shiva and while conducting a Yagna, he didn’t even invite Lord Shiva. But, however his daughter, Ma Sati Devi went to the Yagna, and there she was severely humiliated by his father Lord Daksha, and as a result, she committed self-immolation through her spiritual powers. And due to that, Lord Shiva had got severe anger with Daksha, and hence he created Lord Veerabhadra, through his superior powers, and asked him to destroy the Daksha Yagna. As per the command of Lord Shiva, Veerabhadra went to the Yagna, destroyed the Yagna and also chopped off the head of Lord Daksha.
Sri Veerabhadra Ashtakam was recited by Lord Daksha Bhagavan, when his head was chopped out by Lord Veerabhadra. After that, Lord Daksha had realised his mistake, and with his headless body, he began to praise Lord Veerabhadra, and due that, Lord Veerabhadra had forgiven the mistake of Daksha, and then he placed a goat’s head on to the body of Lord Daksha, and restored his life.
