AMUDHAVANI

INTRODUCTION

Ravidas(1450-1520) was a Hindu Saint, famous poet and a spiritual guru who was worshipped in North India. He was born in a village near Varanasi, and he was born in a family who were considered as untouchables. It is believed that Ravidas was one of the disciples of the great saint Sri Ramananda.

Sant Ravidas has written some Holy Spiritual Texts, and amongst that, his “AMUDHAVANI” is considered as a great classical work, and it is still praised for its valuable contents.

Some of the excerpts from the text, “AMUDHAVANI” are as follows:

Oh God, you are my worshipful master, give me sufficient strength to serve you. You are the creator of the 14 worlds. I am your humble servant, don’t forget about me, even if I lose my body during the time of my death, but I would never leave from your lotus feet.

I am chanting the Rama Nama, but some people used to always utter poisonous words, since I have already surrendered at your lotus feet, no one could attack me. I am protected by the merciful god, Oh Lord, I have attained perfect enlightenment, my mind is pure, give me good courage, wisdom and bravery, and shower fragrant flowers on my path.

Chanting the names of the god is considered as the best method of worship in this Kaliyuga. Hence, Oh my dear people, keep chanting the names of our beloved Lord Rama, do it fast, don’t hesitate in doing that holy task, beg for mercy, ask the god to forgive your sins, stay away from bad people, avoid thinking about ugly things, fill up purity on your soul, then you would be surely protected by the god.

Oh my dear people try to get relieved from worldly bondages, keep worshipping our dear Lord Rama, remember one thing, that, nothing would come along with you during the time of your death, except your good karmas. Hence from today onwards, start worshipping the great almighty, and find him in all of his creations, do your work sincerely, honestly and straight forwardly, and always be active like the tiny ants.

Throw all of your sorrows, and be calm. Don’t get afraid of your life, since your life is under the control of the god. We are like the play dolls, and god is activating us through his rope. Maintain patience in your life, help others, and try to lead a highly disciplinary life.
