Sri Veda Sharma– An Ancient Vedic SAGE-Poet

Introduction

Sri Veda Sharma is an ancient Vedic Rishi, a well-versed poet, and he was mentioned in Upanishads, Puranas and also in other holy texts. He appeared before the Pandavas during the Mahabharata war, and received blessings from the great Lord Krishna and from Maharishi Sri Vedavyasa. His descendants (SHARMA) are living in all parts of India, and especially in North India. During his period, he used to converse with the sages like Bharadwaja and Narada about the glory of the god.

Rishi Veda Sharma had disciples and his divine teachings are famous among the Vedic scholars, and he was praised for his great Shiva Bhakti, and he had also preached about the greatness of Lord Shiva among his disciples, and he was considered as a noble Rishi. He had got good knowledge in Vedas, Shastras and Idikasams. Once when he has submitted his collection of Shiva Songs in the form of palm leaf manuscripts to a famous King, he didn’t accept it, and also he dishonoured that. Hence Sri Veda Sharma had thrown his entire divine works into the burning fire, and it was witnessed even by the worried animals and birds with tears rolling from their eyes!
