4. Arulmigu Sri Sadaichi Amman Temple is a popular temple and it is situated in Pudupatti, Madurai District. The speciality of this temple is that those who suffer from snake bites and from skin diseases easily gets relieved by consuming the sacred ash (Vibudi Prasadam) given at this temple. Adi month Fridays, Shivaratri and Navaratri are the most important festivals celebrated at this temple.

Temple Timings:- 5 am to 8 am, 4 pm to 9 pm.

Nearby this temple, there is a sacred temple tank, and those who take bath at this tank, gets relieved from their diseases as well as from their past birth sins! Devotees used to take Milk Kavadi, sweet Pongal and Koozh offering also takes place at this temple.

As per ancient legend, once, there was a small girl whose name was Sadaichi, who lived nearby the present place of this temple. As per ancient customs, she had got married at her younger age itself to a small boy, who used to graze the Cattle in the nearby fields. One day, while grazing the cattle, the boy suddenly fell down and died. As per ancient tradition, the little girl also fell down at the pyre of her husband and died. With her ashes, her parents constructed a small temple and dedicated to her, and it is called as “MA SADAICHI AMMAN TEMPLE”.

There is also a separate shrine dedicated for Ma Sadaichi Amman in my Kula Devata, Ma Angalamma Temple, Keerakara Veedi, Erode. Some Ancient pious woman who turn into divine goddesses, have got tremendous powers due to their chastity, purity and generosity. No one can underestimate them, since they are having the capability to burn us into ashes through their spiritual powers. We must have to sincerely worship Ma SAIDAICHI AMMA, by considering her as a most powerful goddess, since she contains tremendous powers. But at this present scenario, most of us are not aware of these kinds of wonderful village goddesses, since it is very difficult to find the names of these women goddesses from the Internet/spiritual books!

Goddess Sadaichi, who is believed to be an aspect of Ma Shakti Devi, grants our wishes and fulfil our dreams, and she is the mother (AMMA) for all of us, and for all of the living creatures in this world. Let us pray to this holy divine mother for our well-being, and chant her name sincerely and continuously with full of devotion in our mind.

5. Ma Kateri Amman is a guardian goddess, whose shrine is situated in Angalamman Temple near Govindapuram, who is mainly worshipped for getting good courage, knowledge, bravery, and she protects her devotees from diseases, dangers, black magic problems and removes their past birth sins. Her consort is Lord Munishvaran, a form of Lord Shiva, who is most popularly referred to as “LORD BODYGUARD MUNEESWARAN”.

As per ancient legend, Shiva once witnessed his consort, Ma Parvati, who left Kailash, appeared in a terrible form of Kali, went to the Burial Ground in the earth, and began to dance and dance in a fierce form. When Lord Shiva questioned her about her strange actions, she left her terrible form, and returned to Mount Kailash along with Lord Shiva as a dutiful wife, but before leaving from that place, Ma Parvati had left some of her powers on the burial ground, and hence those powers took the form of Kateri Amman, who was a benevolent goddess in removing sickness, various kinds of diseases like small pox, jaundice, chicken pox and nerve related diseases etc.

Ma Kateri Amman used to roam amidst the thick dense forests, in order to take care of the sad spirits (unnatural death occurs to them due to suicides, murders and accidents) whose soul suffers from lack of peace, and hence, in order to give peace of mind to those unlucky souls, the divine mother, Ma KATERI AMMAN, would appear before them in a ghost form, used to converse with them in a soft voice, and also makes them to attain the suitable worlds using her powers, according to the Karmas committed by them.

Ma Kateri is also portrayed in a violent form in the temples, since her natural form itself is like that! She acts cruel to the bad people, whereas she remains as a soft and gentle goddess, for those who are good in nature.

Ma Kateri’s Complexion is believed to be either dark blue or black. She is seen holding various weapons on her four hands. Kateri Amman is worshipped in some Villages of South India mostly by the Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe community People. She is also worshipped by the Tamil people in various countries like Sri Lanka, Mauritius and South Africa. Her offerings include Veppilai (Neem leaves), limes, and red flowers. Animal sacrifices are also being done to please the holy mother. She is the beloved deity for the devotees of Ma Durga Devi.

Kateri Amman is different from the ghost Kateri, which is considered to be an imaginary one! Recently while I was visiting a famous Ma Angalamman Temple near Govindapuram, to my surprise, I found a separate shrine dedicated for Ma Kateri Amman, and hence, now I have been forced by her, to write an article about her!

Dear readers, please recite this Mantra at least once in a day.

KATERI DEVATA MOOLA MANTRA

Om my Dear Kateri Devata, I surrender at your holy lotus feet, please act like a protective shield for us, and help us to get rid from health issues, poverty, weakness, mental disorders. I consider you as my lovely mother, you have to protect me always, I serve you as your humble servant by the way of performing puja, doing decoration to your deity by adorning flowers, ornaments and garments, performing holy bath to you by using honey, milk, ghee, curd, coconut water and fruit juice. I don’t know how to express my gratitude on you, since you are showing great mercy on me. Please help me to lead my life without any problems. Please help me to cross the ocean of life, and grant salvation to me, Oh my Dear Divine Mother”.

We can also please the guardian deities by singing songs from the sacred SRI DEVI SUKTAM, and the sweet contents are as follows:-

I am having the powers enough to control the Rudras, Vishnus, the Vasus, the Adityas, Indra, Surya and Chandra. I am having the absolute powers to control the entire universe, and I hold the entire universe on my hands.

I control all the Devas, Devis, Demons, humans and all the living creatures in the universe. I grant wealth to those who perform fire sacrifice in my name with purity, sincerity and honesty.

I am the Queen, the ultimate Brahman, and the first offering of yagna (worship). The gods contains enormous powers, and that all happens only through my grace.

The one who eats food, who sees, who breathes, who, hears could be able to do it only through my blessings. Even the non-worshippers dwell near me. Hear my words, and always be wise and good.

I speak only the truth, which is liked by both gods and men alike, whomever I wish, I make him powerful, would give good knowledge and would make them into a pious and a wise one.

The weapons which are kept in my hand are for killing the wrong acts of the doers. I do battle for people, and, I would do goodness to my devotees. I am the wirepuller of the universe including the heaven and earth.

I spread among all the living creatures, including those who live in the underworld.

I am the wind, the fire, the earth, and I affectionately hold all living creatures on my hands. I possess the greatness that I am beyond the imagination of the gods, goddesses, demigods and others.
